The Moot Episode: Zona picks the Arkansas River “Sooner Run” winners; BASS moves derby to Ft. Gibson

At about the same time we posted our Arkansas River “Sooner Run” roster picks and Mark Zona’s locks of the week, BASS announced that due to unsafe conditions on the Arkansas River, “The Sooner Run” would be moved to Fort Gibson Lake, launching out of Wagoner, OK. We’ve decided to leave this podcast online, although our picks are completely moot because Fort Gibson will fish much differently than the Arkansas River would have. We’ll see if we can record a new picks show on short notice … Our initial thoughts are to stick with the horses that brung ya this far –– KVD, Skeet and Evers. Jeff Kriet, sitting on the bubble to get into the post-season, would be a good pick as well – he’ll be highly motivated to finish high, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s an Okalahoma resident. For your remaining two picks, the smart money will likely be on Tommy Biffle, a Wagnor, OK, resident, and Terry Butcher or Stephen Browning, of Talala, OK, and Hot Springs, AK, respectively. … Even before the venue change, “The Sooner Run” –– the final tournament of the regular season before the two-tournament post-season –– was poised to provide plenty of drama. Skeet Reese will attempt to regain lost momentum after missing two cuts after opening the season guns a’blazing with five consecutive top-5 finishes. After winning on Kentucky Lake last week following a string of missed cuts and low finishes, KVD will be looking to gain more ground in the Angler of the Year race now that he’s climbed into the top 12. Next episode: Zona makes a big announcement about his post-”World’s Greatest Fishing Show” plans. Rest assured, he’l be back on the air in 2011. Stay tuned …

2010 Minnesota Bass Opener re-cap; Road Trip Rod and Reel Report–Bemidji area

With no Bassmaster Elite Series or FLW Tour tournaments this weekend, hosts Lazy Ike and Rich Lindgren re-cap the 2010 Minnesota Bass Opener, discuss what's working now on metro-area lakes, and interview Bemidji-area fishing guide Paul Nelson in the first-ever Roadtrip Rod and Reel report. Lazy Ike gives props to Rich for his stellar casting accuracy; Rich "forgets" to mention that Lazy Ike boated the first AND biggest bass on the opener, fishing from the back of Rich's boat. ... We'd like to interview guides from all over Minnesota and Wisconsin, so if you know one -- or are one -- please contact us at twincitylimits@gmail.com. We'd like to get some feedback on the show as well, so leave a comment. You can also leave a question and we'll answer it in the next show. Tune back in next week before locking your roster for the June 9-12 Bassmaster Elite Series "Tennessee Triumph" tournament on Kentucky Lake. Rich is going to take KVD and Skeet again in Bucket A, but Lazy Ike's benching Skeet again to take a points-hungry angler with a great shot of fishing on Sunday.
